Setting up a Brand with the Brand Setup Wizard

Last updated: November 5, 2026

The Brand Setup Wizard creates a brand from your website and suggests your first search terms, so you can start tracking in a few minutes.

Who Can Use the Wizard

The workspace owner and members with write access to the workspace can create brands. If you do not see Brand Setup Wizard in the sidebar, ask your workspace owner for access.

Open the Wizard

  • If your workspace has no brands yet, the wizard opens on its own when you sign in.

  • At any other time, click Brand Setup Wizard in the sidebar, below Prompt Research.

Step 1: Enter your Website

  1. On Let's set up your brand, enter your website, for example yourwebsite.com.

  2. Click Set up my brand, or press Enter.

Rankscale reads your public homepage, with no login needed, and fills in what it finds. You check every detail on the next screen.

Step 2: Review your Brand

Rankscale shows what it found about your brand in one card. Every field can be edited.

  • Brand: check Brand name, Website, What you sell, Who it's for and Industry. Language and Region set the language and country your search terms are checked in.

  • Goals: pick up to three of Be recommended for my category, Win against named competitors, Drive visits to key pages, Fix how AI describes us, Be listed as a source and Be found locally. If you pick Be found locally, add the city or metro area you serve. Do not enter a street address.

  • Competitors (optional): add up to five competitors by name or website.

Your goals and competitors help Rankscale understand your market. The search terms it suggests never name a brand, neither yours nor a competitor's.

When everything looks right, click Generate my search terms.

Step 3: Review your Search Terms

Rankscale suggests nine questions people ask AI about your category, in three cards: Awareness, Consideration and Transactional, depending on how close the person asking is to buying.

  • Edit a question: click into it and change the text.

  • Leave a question out: untick it. Only ticked questions are saved.

  • Add your own: click Add in a card and type your question. You can select up to 12 questions in all.

  • Get new suggestions: click Regenerate in a card. This replaces the ticked suggestions in that card that you have not edited.

Below the cards, the wizard shows the AI engines your first checks run on and roughly how much of your credits the selected questions will use. You can add more search terms and topics later in Search Terms.

When the list looks right, click Set up brand monitoring. To change your brand details first, click Back. Your questions are kept.

Step 4: First Results

Rankscale creates the brand, saves your search terms in three topics, one for each card, and starts the first checks on ChatGPT, Google AI Mode and Microsoft Copilot. The screen shows each check as it runs and whether your brand was mentioned in the answer.

  • Click Get started to open your new brand, Review search terms to go to its search terms, or Brand overview to see all your brands.

  • Your search terms run daily on these engines, which uses credits. You can change the interval and the engines in Search Terms at any time.

  • To change your brand details, goals or competitors later, go to Configuration > Brand Settings.

Leaving the Wizard

Leaving Discards your Setup

Clicking I'll do this later in the top right closes the wizard without creating a brand. Everything you entered, including your reviewed search terms, is discarded, and the wizard starts again at the first step the next time you open it.

To create a brand by entering its details yourself and add search terms afterwards, see 📄 How to Create a New Brand.
