Understanding the Product Cockpit

Last updated: October 5, 2026

The Product Cockpit tracks your products across every merchant that sells them in AI shopping results. It is built for brands whose products are sold by other retailers.

One-Time Setup

The Product Cockpit works from a product catalog that you confirm once. Only workspace members with write access to the brand can build or change it. Members with read-only access can view the results.

Building your Product Catalog

Rankscale groups the shopping items it finds into product groups. A product group is one of your products, including the different names merchants use for it.

  1. Go to Shopping & Ads in your brand's sidebar, then select Product Cockpit.

  2. Click Open product group builder. Later you can return to it with Manage catalog.

  3. In the Suggested tab, click Confirm or Reject for each suggested group, or click Confirm all.

  4. To add a product Rankscale did not suggest, open the All items tab and select its items. Enter a name and click Create group, or use Move selected to group to add them to an existing group.

  5. In the Confirmed tab, rename groups or remove items that do not belong.

The cockpit fills with data as soon as you have at least one confirmed group. When new suggestions are ready, a banner offers Review suggestions.

Tip: Rankscale matches products by the title shown in shopping results. If a merchant uses a very different title for your product, add that item to the group manually.

Your Key Numbers

  • Product visibility: the average visibility across all your confirmed product groups, including those that never appear

  • Surfaced products: how many of your products were found in shopping results

  • Catalog-term buybox wins: Buybox wins on search terms where your products appear. This counts every winner, so it shows how competitive those search terms are, not wins by a specific store

  • Not surfaced: product groups that have not appeared in any shopping result

Where to Focus

Three counts point you to the products that need attention. Click one to jump to the products or search terms behind it.

  • Not surfaced: products AI engines never show, so start here

  • Widest query gap: the product that appears weakly across the most search terms

  • Zero-win groups: products that appear but never win the Buybox

What You See

All Product Groups lists every confirmed group with its visibility, rank, price, rating, reviews and the merchants that carry it. Expand a row to see each item and its price history.

All Merchants shows which retailers carry your products, and how many of your product groups each one covers.

Search Terms shows which search terms surface your products, and who wins the Buybox on each.

Competing Products shows products from other brands that appear on the same search terms as yours. They are grouped by similar product titles, so treat them as a close approximation, not an exact match.

Focusing on One Product

Click Use as scope on a product group to focus every section on that product. An Active scope bar at the top shows what you are looking at, and lets you clear it.
